THE PLOT:

A deep space probe arrives back on Earth, Dr. Ivan Hood and his crew return to a world that has been all but destroyed and the planet invaded by giant alien termites. The human race has been enslaved and before they can react, they too are enslaved.

Pushing the limits, they kill one of the over sized wood eaters and escape. But when Kelly is captured by the Termites then Ivan declares war on the insects and out to drive the pest infestation off of our world once and for all.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Okay, I was exited to hear Renée O'Connor was in this. I've been a big fan of hers since Xena. But I got to admit I was kind of disappointed with how the movie came out and the direction her character went. Like SARAH MICHELLE GELLER, I really can't see Renée O'Connor as the "damsel in distress" type character. Since I know she can kick ass and take names. Bruce was kind of wooden in his performance as well. No pun intended considering alien termites. But this movie does have a lot going to for it, it has great effects, a great cast. The story is scary possible and the acting was good for the most part. But poor Renée's character don't even have a last name, it's just Kelly. Even the guy who gets his head bit off early in the flick has a last name. If you are a fan of Renée O'Connor, then you might want to pass, but if you are Bruce Campbell fan, then check out this flick. 7 OUT OF 10 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I hated the early part of the movie when they first arrive and get captured. I mean, why were they so bloody compliant to these monsters. You didn't see CHARLESTON HESTON giving in right away in PLANET OF THE APES. No, he didn't go down without a fight. Giving in to Bully bugs like sheep isn't very American if you ask me, French yes, but not AMERICAN! But Zedd makes some good points and it does get better. 7 STARS as well.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ EFFECTS (The effects are impressive.)
+ TERMITES (I like the termite monsters.)
+ STORY (The story works.)
+ ACTING (For the most part, pretty good.)
+ CHARACTERS (The human characters were likable.)
+ CAST (The cast does a pretty good job with what they had to work with.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- PLOT HOLE (The invasion happened a mere 20 years ago and anyone around before that would remember the basic handshake.)
- RENEE O'CONNOR (I can't see her as the damsel in distress role.)
- BRUCE (Bruce's performance was a little weak this go round.)
- COMPLIANT HUMANS (Why did they give up without a fight?)

...AND FINALLY...

- FAN BASED (Only big fans of Renee O'Connor and Bruce Campbell will like this movie.)
