THE PLOT:
Five Space Explorers from the Galaxy Alliance are sent to the remote planet of Arus to find and locate the legendary robot
known as Voltron, but when they arrive the planet is under siege by the space pirate slash universal conquerer known only
as King Zarkon. The team is captured, but escape to find the robot's secret and the only thing standing between Arus and
Zarkon.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
Okay, besides the fact they re-wrote everything in the story. Changed the fact in the Japanese version Golion, that Earth
was destroyed in World War III and nothing but as radioactive wasteland. Renaming all the characters is bad enough. But
they way they dumbed things down in this show is insulting, I can't stand shows where "nobody gets hurt". Hiding
kids from death is dumb, maybe four and five years old, but older kids can handle it. But as much as that annoys me, it holds
a special place in my heart from my childhood, so, 7 STARS.
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
Zedd forgot something, Golion was one season of 52 episodes but the American version milked it for all they could. I hold
this version with a tad more contempt then I use to, and give it 5 STARS.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ ANIMATION (DUH, it's the one thing they couldn't change.)
+ DIALOG (Changed, yes, good, yes.)
+ AMERICAN VOICE OVER CAST (The American voice over cast does a great job.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- ALL THE CHANGES (From the Earth not being destroyed to all the name changes.)
- DUMBED DOWN (How all the deaths dumbed down to not being dead.)
...AND FINALLY...
- FAN BASED (If you aren't a fan of Japanese anime or dumbed down Japanese Anime, then this isn't for you.)
